Does Your GLP-1 Need to Be Refrigerated? Storage and Travel
A good share of what reaches us as “the medication stopped working” turns out to be a storage question.
GLP-1s and peptides are proteins. Heat, light and repeated temperature swings degrade them, and a degraded dose is a weaker dose that presents as a plateau. Refrigeration is the default; every product also has an out-of-fridge window, and it is shorter than most people assume. When travelling, it goes in hand luggage — never the hold.
Why temperature matters at all
These are protein molecules, not simple chemicals. Their function depends on holding a specific three-dimensional shape, and heat, light and repeated temperature cycling degrade that structure.
