The Best Time to Take Sermorelin (and Why It’s Not Morning)

Growth hormone is released in pulses, and the largest one is not up to you.

Sermorelin does not replace growth hormone. It signals the pituitary to release your own, which keeps the release subject to your existing feedback controls. The largest natural pulse happens in the first hours of deep sleep, so dosing at night places the signal alongside that pulse rather than against it.

A secretagogue, not a replacement

Sermorelin prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone rather than supplying hormone from outside. That distinction is the practical argument for a secretagogue: the release stays inside your body's own feedback controls.

Exogenous hormone overrides those controls. A secretagogue works within them, which limits how far the signal can be pushed and is a large part of why it is used this way.

Why the timing is not arbitrary

Growth hormone is released in pulses rather than continuously, and the largest natural pulse occurs during the first hours of deep sleep.

Dosing before bed places the signal alongside that pulse instead of against it. This is why patients are asked to inject at night rather than at whatever hour is convenient u2014 the timing is doing part of the work.

If your sleep is broken, sermorelin has less to amplify. We usually fix sleep first.

Why sleep quality comes first

If your sleep is broken, there is less pulse to amplify. A secretagogue timed to a pulse that barely happens is a poor use of a therapy.

So we usually address sleep before or alongside starting, not afterwards. It is a recurring pattern across the formulary: the foundation costs less than the therapy and decides how well the therapy performs.

What to expect, and over what horizon

The first change most patients report is sleep depth, typically within two to three weeks. Recovery and body composition follow over months rather than weeks, and only when training and protein intake support them.

Sermorelin is a long-horizon therapy. Patients looking for a rapid, visible result are generally better served elsewhere on the formulary, and it is more honest to say so at the start than at month three.

Common questions

Should sermorelin be taken morning or night?

At night, before bed. The largest natural growth hormone pulse occurs in the first hours of deep sleep, and dosing then places the signal alongside that pulse rather than competing with it.

How long before sermorelin works?

Sleep depth is usually the first reported change, often within two to three weeks. Recovery and body composition changes follow over months, and depend on training and protein intake supporting them.

Is sermorelin the same as HGH?

No. Sermorelin signals your pituitary to release your own growth hormone, so the release remains subject to your body's feedback controls. Exogenous growth hormone bypasses those controls entirely.
